Multijurisdictional Practice (MJP) Program
The Multijurisdictional Practice (MJP) program allows qualified non-California attorneys to practice a limited scope of law in California. The State Bar's MJP Rules (Title 3, Division 3, Chapter 1 of the Rules of the State Bar of California) and California Rules of Court became effective July 1, 2010.
Effective July 1, 2010, an attorney intending to file a MJP application must first register online with The State Bar of California’s Office of Admissions. After registering, an attorney may submit a MJP application.
To learn if an individual non-California lawyer is registered with the State Bar, go to Attorney Search.
For additional questions, contact the Office of Admissions, 415-538-2325 or mjp@calbar.ca.gov.
